Flights are planned to commence in September 2017 using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Donghai Airlines is headquartered in Shenzen, Guangdong, China. It currently operates a fleet of 13 737-800 aircraft with orders for 737 MAX and 787 aircraft. Darwin would be Donghai's first international route.
Approval by the China Civil Aviation Authority is a prerequisite before flights can be confirmed.
There has been no announcement yet by Donghai Airlines or the Northern Territory Government which has been lobbying Chinese airlines heavily in recent months to establish Darwin services.
