- Qantas will no longer be able to market one stop flights from Darwin to London and Frankfurt via Singapore
- Qantas may be able to transfer Jetstar passengers to Emirates flights from Singapore via Dubai onward to Europe.
- Air France code-share arrangements have been terminated so the Jetstar/Air France codeshare via Singapore to Paris will no longer be available.
- Darwin passengers headed to Europe are likely to be channeled by Qantas via Sydney and Melbourne which may see a shift to SilkAir/Singapore Air.
- Jetstar will be able to retime their flights to Singapore to more friendly daylight hours to facilitate better connectivity within Asia and avoid the need for overnight stops in Singapore.
Qantas-Emirates deal to affect NT travellers
NT Airports says Top End passengers travelling to Europe will face changes because of Qantas's new partnership with Emirates.
Qantas is cancelling its Singapore-to-London flights next April and will transfer through Dubai instead.
Jim Parashos from NT Airports says Darwin travellers may have to transfer to another Australian capital city before flying to Dubai.
But he says there will be more European cities to fly to from Dubai, without having to go through London's Heathrow Airport.
"So the benefit moving forward is potentially a connection with Jetstar through Singapore and then Emirates, Singapore, Dubai onto 32 destinations in Europe," he said.
"So if that unfolds it'll be a positive but as I said the detail is not quite clear at the moment."
